How to wear your M.O.M. Tai

1. Tie the bottom straps of your M.O.M. Tai around your waist so that the carrier hangs upside down and the side you want to face out is touching the back of your legs.   2. Place your baby on your hip, bend over slightly, and slowly shift her onto your back with her legs straddling the carrier and you. Make sure she is centered and that the outer edges of your M.O.M. Tai are smoothed out toward the backs of her knees. (This method is for babies over 6 months with solid head control)   3. Support your baby under her bottom and remain bent slightly as you bring the straps over your shoulders one at a time. Stand upright and bounce gently to settle the baby into the carrier. Take up the slack in the straps and bring the baby close to your back by pulling them forward and down.

4. Bring the top straps straight back under baby's legs and tie them in a square knot.

~ OR ~Cross them and pass each strap to the opposite hand, then bring them back to your front and tie them in a square knot.

This is how your MOM Tai should look if worn with the head flap tucked away.

This is the back view with the head support tucked in.

To extend the head support, turn the storage flap inside out. (If you have tucked it in leaving the tie straps hanging, you may be able to tug the ties to unroll it yourself.) Pull one small strap up over each shoulder and it to the loop on your shoulder strap in a slip knot.

For convenient access to the head support, you can also leave it folded back so that you can easily access it without help!

  • Front carry pictures with instructions are coming soon, but in the meanwhile, you may simply adapt these instructions to the front instead since the only main difference is that you may wish to cross the top staps in an "X" on your back to distribute baby's weight more evenly. Also, when using the head support in a front carry without assistance, you may wish to tie the small straps behind your neck.

  • You can shorten the body of your M.O.M. Tai by rolling the bottom before you tie it on. This helps smaller babies sit higher so that they can see the world around them! As your baby grows into a toddler your carrier can grow with her - just roll it less and less!

  • You can shorten the head support for smaller babies or more ventilation by rolling it before you tie it to the loops.

  • To stow the head support, roll it down to meet the storage flap, then turn the flap inside out and tuck the rolled head support inside it.

How to Wear Your M.O.M. Sling

1. Grasp your threaded sling by the rings and reach through your sling with the arm opposite the shoulder you want your rings to set on.

2. Your rings should rest just outside and below your collar bone for optimal comfort.

3. To tighten your sling, gently pull the tail out and down. To loosen it, separate the rings and pull the top ring up. If your baby is in the sling while you are loosening it, make sure to support her weight with your other arm.

4. Pull the outside edge of the sling to take up the extra slack on the inside rail of the sling so that it lays flat against your chest. Keeping the outer rail loose, open the pouch and give it a shake to make sure it is not bunched. At this point, you may wish to place a folded blanket in the bottom of the sling to form a shallower pouch for a small baby.   5. Place your baby on your shoulder opposite the rings and rest her there while you open the pouch with your other hand. A younger baby will fit nicely there with her head resting on the shoulder - but always support her head.   6. Begin to lower the baby into your sling feet first, slowly rotating as you lower her so that she is sitting or laying in the sling on her back side. Remember to support your younger baby's head and neck. You can use the hand holding the pouch open to bring the fabric up and hold it behind baby's head as you lower her.

There are so many ways to wear your baby in your ring sling - so be creative! If you chose to use the hip carry, be sure the fabric wraps under baby's bottom all the way to her knees and that the top edge comes up under her armpits.
7. Tighten your sling with your hand on the ring side while supporting her weight with your opposite hand. You can fine tune the fit of your sling by tugging on the corresponding section of the tail.

Tada!
